Our Leaders

  • Rev. Carina Schiltz

Pastor Carina joined our Immanuel family in April 2022 and is excited to meet you as we move into the future God calls us to together!

  • Janis Shackley

Janis has been our Office Manager since 2005. She holds our ministry together from the confines of her “fishbowl” office.

  • Matt Stein

Matt became Director of Music Ministries in Fall 2022 and is excited to share the church's song with the whole community.

  • Trevor Thom

Trevor serves as Director of Congregational Life, assisting members and leaders in all areas of our ministry together.

  • Dawn Westenberg

Dawn began serving as our Financial Secretary & Volunteer Coordinator in 2015. She’s our favorite Moravian!

Congregation Council

The Congregation Council is the interim decision making body between meetings of the congregation. The council, which is elected by the congregation, is made up of the officers of the congregation, the pastor, and members of the congregation who serve in an at-large capacity.

If you have a question or concern for the Congregation Council, please reach out to any of our council members or President DeWayne Roberson directly.

Standing Committees

No time for sitting down! The standing committees of Immanuel, along with our staff and volunteers, make ministry happen each day in our congregation and community.

If you would like to learn more about our committees and groups, please contact the church office and we’ll get you connected to Immanuel’s committee chairs.

  • Focused on lifelong learning and engagement, the Faith Formation team coordinates programs, activities, and classes for children, youth, families, and adults of all ages. Whether you’re interested in Sunday School, youth groups, bible studies, Confirmation, or gathering folks for intergenerational activities that celebrate faith and fun, this is the group for you!

  • As you might imagine, Immanuel’s Finance team keeps a close eye on our congregation’s financial matters. Reviewing monthly reports, preparing budgets, and making recommendations to the Congregation Council regarding financial matters are all tasks this group takes on.

  • Immanuel is proud to be a welcoming, social ministry minded congregation in our Watertown community. The Mission & Outreach team is responsible for maintaining relationships with our community partners, gathering up volunteers and resources, and leading the congregation in making sure all people are invited and accepted in all areas of our ministry and life together!

  • Just like at your house, the building and property we share as a church family needs to be cared for and maintained. The Properties team is the group involved with larger, long-term capital projects, quick fixes, and everything in between!

  • All of us have gifts of time, talent, and treasure to share, and the Stewardship team is responsible for helping us discover our God-given gifts and find ways to utilize them. They also coordinate an annual stewardship campaign that helps the congregation prepare for the budgeting process.

  • With the help of our staff and volunteers, the Worship & Music team makes manages the volunteers and supplies needed for our worship services and music ministries. This group also creates or purchases the decorations that adorn our worship space and coordinates the purchase of flowers for Christmas & Easter celebrations.

  • In addition to the six standing committees, Immanuel is blessed with leaders on several other committees and boards.

The Endowment Fund Board maintains Immanuel’s Endowment and distributes money for ministry and mission.

The Cemetery Committee is responsible for the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery and maintains and makes use of Immanuel’s Cemetery Endowment Fund.

The WELCA Board coordinates the activities, fundraisers, and circles of Women of the ELCA here at Immanuel.

An Audit Committee checks all areas of finances each year.

A Nominating Committee seeks candidates to be elected to various positions in the congregation each year.
