Women of the ELCA

  • God's work. Our hands.

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

    — Women of the ELCA (WELCA) Purpose Statement

  • Studying Scripture

Many women in our congregation gather once a month in circle groups for prayer, conversation, and bible study using materials from Gather magazine. These groups usually meet at church but occasionally meet elsewhere. Check our monthly Messenger or contact the church office to find out the times and locations.

  • Making Quilts

Three times a month, women from Immanuel come together to make beautiful quilts. Our congregation’s quilts are a tangible way to express love to our neighbors in need. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, simple tents, floor coverings, and other purposes. Each one reflects God's loving presence in a world rife with suffering. Check our monthly Messenger or contact the church office to find out which days they’re meeting this month!

  • Serving Meals

Good food has a way of feeding our bodies and our souls. Immanuel’s Women of the ELCA regularly prepare and serve funeral luncheons, provide weekly snacks for our Confirmation Class, and occasionally offer home cooked meals to members recovering from illness or hospitalization.

  • Raising Funds

WELCA is a powerhouse for fundraising in our congregation. Each the women of Immanuel make and sell hundreds of chicken pot pies, jars of jam, cookies, candies, soups, and more! They’d love for you to join them!

  • Equal Exchange Fair Trade Items

Immanuel’s Women of the ELCA sell fair trade coffee, tea, chocolate, and other items in the narthex cabinet in between worship services. You can also stop by the church office during the week to make a purchase. Buying fair trade items ensures that those who make these products are justly paid for the work they do.
