The Wedding at Cana (First Miracle)

FOURTH NAVE WINDOW:

The Wedding at Cana (First Miracle)

“He manifested his glory.”

The first miracle was performed at Cana of Galilee shortly after Jesus’ baptism. He changed water into wine on this festive occasion and thus brought added pleasure. By His presence, Jesus indicates His blessing of marriage. the top of the window carries the ancient Chi Rho which symbolizes Christ. Immediately below we see the two rings, interwoven, symbolizing marriage and the flames in each symbolizing mutual love. The water is blessed by the power of Christ which is symbolized by the hand, and Christ’s power goes over the jars and this miracle is completed. The candles remind us again of the trinity and of the new law.
