Children's Bookshelf Project

Children's Bookshelf Project

In June of 2008, the Social Concerns Committee at Immanuel was instrumental in establishing a Children's Bookshelf in the Food Pantry. As of January 1, 2016 approximately 11,600 books have been given out to children. In addition to this number, we also have shared approximately 1,100 books with Cross Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Cross Lutheran has added a tutoring program which operates two evenings a week. Any donations are greatly apprecaited.

It has been felt that reading is a cornerstone for education and that many families cannot afford to purchase books for their children. Everytime a parent visits the pantry, they are able to take a free book for each child in their family.
