Meet the Staff

Pastor Todd Iverson

Pr. Todd (or PT) — Senior Pastor, Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church
(iverson@me.com)

I am passionate about connecting people with God and each other so that we can live the abundant life that Jesus wants to give us. The center of scripture is John 3.16–17 and our response to that love is 1 John 3.16.

I’ve lived in many places. I was born in Stillwater, MN and that’s why I cheer for the Vikings. I spent my 2nd grade year north of Grand Marais, MN. My family moved to Arizona and I lived in Apache Junction and Tucson, AZ. I graduated with honors from the University of Arizona with an Interdisciplinary Studies major (minors in Mathematics, Computers Science, and Religious Studies.) I achieved my Master of Divinity in 1997 from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, having served internship at First Lutheran Church in Williston, ND. I have served Big Drywood Lutheran Church in Cadott, WI, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Superior, WI, and the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin as Assistant to the Bishop.

I am married to Rebecca, who is also a pastor in the ELCA. Since they called me Mr. PR (Pastor Rebecca) at her last call, you can call her Mrs. PT if you like! I have two wonderful daughters: Sonja is 15 and Marta is 12 who live with me during breaks from school, and Rebecca and I are expecting another little one in August.

I also serve as a Chaplain for Naval Mobile Combat Battalion 25 based in Madison, WI.

I love serving God here at Immanuel. Come and see the great things that God is doing here!

Janis Shackley - Office Manager (jshackley.immanuel@gmail.com)

I have lived in Watertown all of my married life. Before that I grew up in the small town of Hortonville, near Appleton. My husband, Howard, and I have two children. Daughter Shannon is married to Troy Milbrath and has three children of her own, and our son Scott is unmarried. We enjoy having our grandchildren over as often as we can.

I was a secretary at Lindberg for 28+ years. After being laid off from there in 2002 I searched for a long time and had many different temp jobs until I came to Immanuel. After I started working here a friend of mine, also a church member, told me "Who would have thought when you were praying for a job that you would find it at our church!" How true that is!! I am enjoying getting to really know a lot of you and putting names and faces together.

I have been working here at Immanuel since June of 2005. It has been a wonderful experience; learning more about Immanuel; general church work; and, meeting the diverse people of Immanuel. Whether, or not, they are members or one of the 100’s of people that come in to use the Food Pantry, dine at Bread & Roses or ask about the Hometown Mission program weekly. It has been a sometime humbling experience to talk with these people. I am reminded daily that I have been blessed.

I have made many new friends during my time here. I have also lost some very good friends too, such as Nora Zubke and Marguerite Kerstell, to name a couple. When I am going through any troubles or hard times it is great to be here and just go sit in the sanctuary for a moment and “let go and let God.” My thanks go to all my new friends as they comforted me when I lost my mother unexpectedly in March of 2010. On a happier note, I’ll come and take pictures of the Sunday school classes or the kids at our VBS and always come away with a smile on my face.

Immanuel is a wonderful place to work, co-workers are great to get along with; we work well together. I want to thank all of you for letting me be a part of your lives.
