Member Spotlight

God is revealed to others through us in many ways. Each month we feature a member or members of our congregation who share the Spirit through their words and actions.
JULY

Meet one of our 3-generation families faithfully serving Immanuel - in front is Wendy Umland and her mother, Carol Lenius; with Wendy’s daughter LeeAnn Umland standing in back.

This month, we feature Carol Lenius, Wendy & LeeAnn Umland in our Member Spotlight.  All three are very active members of our church community.

Carol, married to LaVern for more than 55 years, has been a member here at Immanuel since 1958.  Lavern and Carol have a farm on Hwy. QQ west of Watertown.  Over the years, Carol has worked at Turkey Dinners, funerals, rummage sales for kids, taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School superintendent one year, helped with Messenger mailings and other office volunteer work.  Carol and daughter Wendy both serve on Altar Guild together.

Wendy, in addition to serving on Altar Guild, is the Director of Parish Education and member of the Church Council.  Wendy was baptized and confirmed Immanuel.  When she married Scott, a firefighter for the City of Watertown, in 1985, she joined his home congregation, Christ United Methodist Church.  The family joined Immanuel in 2008.  Scott and Wendy have two adult sons, Zack and Weston, and a daughter, LeeAnn.  Wendy has worked at Turke Family Medical Clinic for 13 years.  She began there as an x-ray technician but her duties have expanded to now include being the Office Manager as well as doing the labs and x-ray work.  She stays busy!  Even in her free time she’s busy...she noted that when the family goes up to their cottage in Eagle River she does the cooking to relax!  Hope she takes a nap once in a while also.

LeeAnn, who will be a sophomore at Watertown high school in the Fall, is the Immanuel Church Council Youth Representative this year.  She’s going to be going to the National ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans in July.  LeeAnn is in the Watertown High School Show Choir.  She loves to sing.  She’s looking forward to traveling with the choir and band to Canada next year.

We thank Carol, Wendy, and LeeAnn for their fine and dedicated service in and beyond Immanuel!  May God bless them in their service in the name of Christ.
