From newborns to those in the final stages of life, there is a place for all people in this family of faith we call Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church.

We are a church that shares a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

This faith comes through the good news of Jesus Christ and gives us the freedom and the courage to wonder, discover, and boldly participate in what God is up to in the world. Liberated by our faith,
we embrace you as a whole person — questions, complexities and all.

Christ is able to make us one,
at the table he sets the tone.

There are no barriers to God’s extravagant love. Christ prepares an abundant feast and invites all people to join in the banquet. All people are welcome to join us
as we celebrate Holy Communion. In response to the needs of many
in our family of faith, we serve only dealcoholized wine, and gluten-free wafers are always available by simply asking the server. Our communion ministers bring the sacrament to members and friends who are homebound or in the hospital as an extension of our Eucharistic celebration.

As members of the ELCA,
we believe that we are
freed in Christ to serve and
love our neighbor. With our hands, we do God’s work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus Christ’s name throughout the world.

We are a catalyst
 for community ministry.

Immanuel has a continuous history of social concern in our community.

From the beginning,
the Watertown Food Pantry has been located here at Immanuel.

After Bread & Roses was unable to continue at a different location, Immanuel stepped up to run the program for over a decade. We continue to house the meal every week, with different community organizations and groups making and serving the meal.

Hometown Missions is a fund of contributions from community members and several local congregations. The fund is used for families in need of rental assistance, energy assistance, gas vouchers,
and other similar needs. The program is also housed here.

Our newest program is Community Laundry. In partnership with other congregations, we provide laundry services every Tuesday at a local laundromat for those in need.

As a connected church,
we are doing ministry
here and across the globe.

The Personal Essentials Pantry, modeled after a similar program in Madison, began with a grant from ELCA World Hunger.

In Africa, we are educating community leaders and providing supplies to end malaria forever.

Here at Immanuel, we believe that generations of God’s people worshiping together is essential
for community, and that children
are a reminder of God’s creative work in our world. That’s why families worship together in
our congregation.

Our Sunday school is led by dedicated teachers who give of their time to share the faith with our children and families. We begin each week together with music!
Our students even sing during worship services on occasion.

Our children are leaders.

The kids of Immanuel are often leading our congregation in service projects and giving opportunities. They teach us and we teach them how to live generous lives in thanksgiving for all that God has given to each and every one of us.

The font is at the center of our lives
and the center of our worship space.

We love to gather around the font to celebrate baptisms because each new life is a reminder of the new life we each receive in baptism. If you or your child would like to receive baptism, please contact the church office so we can celebrate this sacrament with you!

Immanuel is known throughout our community and beyond for our excellent ministries of music.
These ministries make every worship service a truly joyous celebration. We have everything from vocal choirs, instrumentalists, handbell groups, and a praise band.

Holidays at Immanuel are an especially remarkable experience.

The annual Candlelight Concert, children’s pageant, Christmas and Easter worship services, and more are all beautiful opportunities to share our faith together through song and celebration.

On Good Friday each year, members of our choir lead a contemplative service of music, word, and prayer that invites us
to reflect on the passion and death
of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

There is a place for all people
in our ministries of music!

Immanuel is a proud congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA): one church with over 9,000 congregations and worshiping communities, organized in 65 geographical areas called synods. We are located in the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin.

The word “synod” is Greek —
meaning “walking together.”

We walk together with our fellow siblings in Christ to do more than we could ever do apart. Through hunger initiatives, our church is serving those in need here in Watertown, in our country, and around the globe. Our people are often the first to arrive and the last to leave when disaster strikes.

Lutheran Services in America touches the lives of 1 in 50 Americans each year.

We fund these initiatives and more in part through our mission support. Ten percent of our offerings go directly to this shared work. This tithe is a commitment to what God is doing in and through our wider church — we can’t do this alone.
